Brief

After building Grown’s first website a few years ago, they came back to us looking for something more engaging to drive the brand forward. The new site needed to showcase what they stand for, the lifestyle of the product.

Background

GROWN sunglasses are handcrafted from durable Bamboo and hardwoods such as maple, ebony and walnut. All of the natural materials used are organic, renewable and free from harmful or toxic elements.

In 2015 GROWN founder Jeff Phillips also appeared on Shark Tank and received investment from Red Balloon founder Naomi Simson and real estate titan John McGrath.

Challenge

  • Ability for the client to easily make updates

    The Grown marketing team like to make constant updates to their site with new products, sales, upsells, campaigns etc. They needed a platform that would allow them to make updates, without compromising the integrity of the live website.

  • Global Solution

    Grown required 3 online stores in key regions worldwide, so we needed to develop a solution to assist customers to find the their closest store. However, they didn’t want to do an IP lockdown ,incase users where purchasing while overseas or travelling.

  • Mobile First

    Grown had a firm brief that this site was to have a strong mobile focus, as the new customers they would be targeting through social media would mostly be on a mobile device. As a brand, they also wanted to be a market leader and suggested we display a ‘mobile’ style navigation on the desktop site as well. Great news for the design team!

    We implemented a customised Shopify theme, complete with a number of in-built marketing features to drive conversions.

  • Global Solution

    Grown operates in 3 key regions worldwide, so we delivered a site for each region with a smart popup to detect the user's location and take them to the correct site.

  • Mobile First

    The new design was centered on mobile as the primary experience. We focussed on how users interacted with the previous site to gain insights around improving the UX and UI.

Result

Some time after the website went live, we conducted a review to measure outcomes achieved. Upon review, we could quickly see the enhanced user experience and sales features implemented had a significant impact on the performance of this site. This on top of the countless comments of how beautiful it is.
