Stab Magazine is one of the world’s largest surf publications with over one million unique website visitors each month. We had previously completed successful projects with the SurfStitch Group, owner of Stab Magazine, and we were asked to redevelop their website. The Stab Magazine is a large content publisher with more than 9000 posts and almost 1.7 million image assets on the website. Because of this, migration was always going to be a main priority on this project.
One of the main issues with the previous Stab website, was that it was not mobile compatible. This was becoming more damaging to the brand each day. We needed to ensure the new website was responsive on all devices to limit any further damage to the brand.
Migrating the large content was a main priority with over 9000 posts and almost 1.7 million image assets. The amount of content on the website meant it was vital to work towards increasing the page speed.
The Stab Maagazine website was not optimised for speed. Coupled with the high volume content and large size graphics, the website was not running at optimal speed.
We integrated a fully utilised SilverStripe CMS Website Publishing Platform which included migrating all previous images and content. The website was responsive and compatible on all popular devices and features were added to the website. The speed of the website was improved by 533% seeing a decrease in loading time from 44.3 seconds to 7.
We created an Ad server integration which includes a choice of mobile or desktop display and the option to choose where the ads are displayed on the website. We also integrated social media on the website as well as commenting and video integration. This creates a better communication between the Stab team and the audience.
Social media integration on the site was an important facet for Stab to be able to better communicate with their followers. The new website included features that allowed users to get social, post comments and share.
The new website has seen a great improvement on speed, loading and interaction. With a fast, mobile friendly website users can now better interact with the brand online.
